Discovering the Ephraim Utah Temple: A New Gem in Sanpete County
The completion of the Ephraim Utah Temple marks an exciting chapter for the region. Located at 400 East 200 North in Ephraim, Utah, this new addition to Sanpete County stands as a stunning testament to faith and heritage.
The announcement of this magnificent building came on May 1, 2021, sparking anticipation among locals and beyond. Groundbreaking took place on August 27, 2022, presided over by none other than Prophet Russell M. Nelson. In a heartfelt moment, he shared his connection to the area, revealing that both his mother and father have roots in Ephraim, as well as many of his ancestors. During the dedicatory prayer, he expressed gratitude for ancestors who have laid a foundation of faith, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their lives and legacies.
Spanning 9.16 acres, the Ephraim Utah Temple covers an impressive 39,000 square feet, offering four endowment rooms, each capable of seating 30 individuals, alongside three sealing rooms and a single baptistry. Notably, the Temple features two elegant end towers and omits the traditional gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, giving it a unique aesthetic charm.
The architectural rendering was revealed to the public on March 4, 2022, showcasing a design that beautifully complements the surrounding area. Sitting at an elevation of 5,567 feet, it’s not just an architectural marvel but also a breathtaking sight against the stunning backdrop of Sanpete County.
What’s particularly intriguing is that the Ephraim Utah Temple will be the 27th Temple in Utah and the second in Sanpete County, joining the Manti Utah Temple, which is conveniently located within the boundaries of Manti High School.
