Heber Valley Utah Temple: Progress and Features
The Heber Valley Utah Temple is an exciting undertaking currently taking shape in picturesque Wasatch County. Recently, the dewatering process commenced, involving the drilling of 20 wells to manage groundwater levels. The water will be pumped into large tanks and relocated to Lake Creek, situated just south of the site, ensuring that this process maintains environmental integrity throughout the operation.
The injunction surrounding the construction of the Heber Valley Utah Temple has been lifted, allowing work to proceed without interruption. Enthusiasm around the dedication of this site has been palpable since its announcement on October 3, 2021. The official groundbreaking and site dedication took place shortly afterward on October 8, 2022, overseen by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, a moment revealed during the October 2021 General Conference.
Spanning a generous 18.17 acres, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will boast impressive architectural features. Among these are two attached end towers, and notably, it will not include a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue—a departure from many of its predecessors. Inside, it will house four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, designed to accommodate a variety of purposes.
With a total area of 87,626 square feet, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will be classified as a large Temple within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a designation given to any Temple exceeding 80,000 square feet. Rising to a height of 210 feet, it will sit at an elevation of 6,711 feet, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
A rendering of the Heber Valley Utah Temple was unveiled to the public on September 19, 2022, offering a glimpse into the architectural beauty that this site promises to bring to the Heber Valley. Located just over 40 miles from Salt Lake City, the Heber Valley is renowned for its picturesque scenery and serene mountain landscapes.
Once completed, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will be the 28th Temple in Utah, adding to the rich tapestry of spiritual and cultural life in the region. As construction continues, anticipation grows for what this new addition will bring to the area.
