Dewatering Phase Underway
As part of the construction process, dewatering has commenced. This involves drilling 20 wells to manage groundwater levels, with water being pumped into large tanks and redirected to Lake Creek just south of the site. Importantly, this dewatering operation is designed to have no environmental impact on the vicinity, ensuring the natural beauty of the Heber Valley remains intact.
Construction Status
Recent news indicates that the construction injunction has been lifted, paving the way for further advancement on the site. The announcement of the Heber Valley Utah Temple took place on October 3, 2021, generating considerable enthusiasm among those in the area and beyond. Following this, the groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on October 8, 2022, officiated by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, a moment that was also highlighted during the October 2021 General Conference.
Unique Architectural Features
Encompassing an 18.17-acre lot, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will showcase distinct architectural elements. The design includes two attached end towers and will notably not feature a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, differentiating it from many other temples. Inside, there will be four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, making it a significant addition to the geographical landscape of the area.
Size and Elevation
Once completed, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will be classified as a large temple, covering 87,626 square feet. At an impressive height of 210 feet, it will also sit at an elevation of 6,711 feet, contributing to the breathtaking views typical of the Heber Valley.
