Heber Valley Utah Temple: A New Addition to Utah’s Spiritual Landscape
The Heber Valley Utah Temple is making significant strides in its construction journey. As part of the preparation work, dewatering operations are now underway. This involves drilling 20 wells to manage water levels, with the extracted water being pumped into large tanks and relocated to Lake Creek, situated just south of the site. Notably, this dewatering process has been assessed to have no environmental impact on the surrounding area.
In exciting news for future construction plans, the injunction that was previously in place has been lifted, allowing work to progress smoothly. The temple, announced on October 3, 2021, has captured the attention of many in the area, especially after the groundbreaking and site dedication event on October 8, 2022, led by Prophet Russell M. Nelson. This event was first referenced during the October 2021 General Conference, igniting anticipation for the temple’s completion.
Located at 1400 E Center St in Heber City, Utah, on an 18.17-acre parcel, the Heber Valley Utah Temple will boast a range of architectural features that are both modern and respectful of the region’s natural beauty. One noteworthy element is the design incorporating two attached end towers, while it will notably not have a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
This temple will be equipped with four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry, catering to the various needs of attendees. Once complete, it will cover an impressive area of 87,626 square feet, qualifying it as a large facility within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple will stand tall at 210 feet, positioned at a remarkable elevation of 6,711 feet, ensuring it will be a prominent feature against the stunning backdrop of Heber Valley—a picturesque rural mountain valley located a little over 40 miles from Salt Lake City.
The rendering for the Heber Valley Utah Temple was released to the public on September 19, 2022, showcasing its elegant design and inviting nature. Once completed, this facility will proudly become the 28th Temple in Utah, further enriching the spiritual opportunities available to the community and beyond.
