Welcome to an inspiring chapter in Montana’s history: the Helena Montana Temple! This remarkable temple, announced on April 4, 2021, by President Russell M. Nelson during the 191st Annual General Conference, reflects the faith and dedication of over 50,000 Latter-day Saints and around 125 congregations in the state.

The journey began with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 26, 2021, presided over by Elder Vern P. Stanfill of the Seventy. His heartfelt reflection on the many who have “sacrificed, served, and hoped for this day” highlighted the legacy of faith that has paved the way for this temple. Positioned at 1260 Otter Road, right next to a new stake center on a spacious 4.8-acre site, this spiritual haven was set for rapid construction, bringing excitement and hope to the community.

On April 20, 2021, the location was officially confirmed at a 4.75-acre site at 1230 Otter Road, where the former stake center was located. As the old building was dismantled, plans were set in motion for a spectacular new temple. With anticipation building, the public had the opportunity to see the temple during an open house from May 18 to June 3, 2023, following a special media day on May 15 for invited guests.

Finally, the moment arrived! On June 18, 2023, the Helena Montana Temple was dedicated in two sessions at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles officiating. This temple is particularly noteworthy as it is the first temple built using innovative modular construction methods, making it a unique addition to the Church’s temple architecture.

The temple’s beautiful exterior features chic deco stone cladding, highlighted by a stunning central tower that captures the eye. Inside, it encompasses a welcoming space of 9,794 square feet, including one instruction room, a sealing room, and a baptistry. Towering at 96 feet 9 inches and situated at an elevation of 3,768 feet, the Helena Montana Temple is not only a sanctuary for worship but a symbol of faith and community strength.

So, whether you’re a lifelong resident or a curious visitor, the Helena Montana Temple is a must-see destination that offers a glimpse into the heart of Montana’s Latter-day Saints community and the profound significance of this sacred space!
