Discovering the Deseret Peak Utah Temple

Nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Tooele, Utah, the Deseret Peak Utah Temple stands as a significant addition to the area. Located at 2400 N 400 W, Tooele, Utah 84074, this 71,998 square-foot space was designated as the 200th Dedicated Temple.

A Brief History

The announcement of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple came on April 7, 2019, from Prophet Russell M. Nelson. Following its announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on May 15, 2021, conducted by Elder Brook P. Hales, a local General Authority. The dedication ceremony occurred later on November 10, 2024, marking a significant milestone.

Design and Features

The Temple sits on a spacious 15.5-acre lot that includes a 20,000-square-foot meetinghouse. Notably, the Temple is three stories high, with a central tower. Its exterior features glass fiber-reinforced concrete, setting it apart visually in the surrounding landscape. Although it does not currently have a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, the Temple is constructed to support one in the future.

Inside, the Temple is equipped with four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry. The interior is adorned with beautiful art glass, showcasing cliffrose and silvery lupine flowers that are native to the Tooele area, adding a local touch to the design.

Specifications

Standing at a height of 182.8 feet and situated at an elevation of 4,603 feet, this Temple exemplifies medium-class structures within its square footage range of 40,000 to 80,000 square feet. It is the 23rd Temple established in Utah and the first in Tooele County.

The official rendering of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple was revealed to the public on April 7, 2020, generating excitement and anticipation within the community as preparations moved forward.
