The groundbreaking ceremony on November 30, 1985, led by the beloved Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, drew an impressive crowd of over 6,000 people at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This event highlighted the deep commitment and enthusiasm of the community for this sacred project.

Following much anticipation, the temple held a magnificent public open house from November 16 to December 9, 1989, where nearly 297,480 visitors had the opportunity to tour its exquisite interior before its formal dedication, which took place from December 16 to 18, 1989, again by President Hinckley.
