The journey of the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple began on October 3, 1992, when it was announced to the public. The Temple’s groundbreaking and site dedication took place on October 9, 1993, conducted by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.
An extensive open house allowed for an impressive 679,217 people to tour the Temple from August 6 to September 21, 1996, generating significant interest and excitement in the region. Ultimately, the Temple was dedicated over multiple days, from October 13 to October 19, 1996, once again under the guidance of Gordon B. Hinckley.
Architectural Features and Size
Covering 16.7 acres, the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple showcases a sierra white granite façade, complemented by art glass windows and bronze doors. At a height of 190 feet, the Temple is quite striking, particularly with its single attached end spire crowned by a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue.
Inside, the facility includes four instructional rooms, eight sealing rooms, and one baptistry. With a total area of 107,240 square feet, the design features an adaptive floor plan reminiscent of the Bountiful Utah Temple.

Perched at an elevation of 4,764 feet, the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple is the second Temple established in Utah County and the ninth built in the state. Interestingly, the land on which it was constructed was originally church welfare land.
