Nestled in the serene landscapes of Yukon, Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple stands as the 95th dedicated temple in operation, showcasing a remarkable blend of beauty and spiritual significance. With its stunning beige limestone exterior and an elegant gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue atop its spire, this temple is not just a religious structure; it’s a symbol of faith and community.

The journey of the Oklahoma City Temple began on March 14, 1999, when it was officially announced. Just a few months later, on July 3, 1999, Elder Rex D. Pinegar led the groundbreaking ceremony, laying the foundation for what would become a cherished landmark for many. After a year filled with anticipation, the temple opened its doors to the public for the first time from July 8 to July 22, 2000. The excitement culminated in a beautiful dedication ceremony on July 30, 2000, presided over by Apostle James E. Faust.

Fast forward to 2019, the temple underwent significant renovations, closing its doors from October 15, 2017, to May 19, 2019. This allowed for improvements that enriched the beautiful structure, ensuring it remains a welcoming sanctuary for worshippers. The second public open house greeted visitors from April 24 to May 1, 2019, leading up to a rededication ceremony conducted by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.

The Oklahoma City Temple is not just about its striking architecture; it serves a diverse congregation, spanning across Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. The temple encompasses two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, with interior finishes that feature exquisite Italian marble, creating an inviting atmosphere for reflection and spiritual growth.

Standing tall at 83 feet and situated at an elevation of 1,202 feet, this is the first temple ever built in Oklahoma, making it a significant milestone in the community’s religious history. From its serene grounds adorned with elegant fountains to its role in nurturing faith, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is truly a remarkable beacon of hope and spirituality in the heart of America.
