Welcome to the Orem Utah Temple, a beautiful spiritual haven that’s making waves as the 188th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! You can find it at 1451 S 1100 W in Orem, Utah. The excitement really kicked off on October 5, 2019, when the temple was announced, and just a year later, on September 5, 2020, we celebrated a special groundbreaking ceremony with Elder Craig C. Christensen leading the way.
Despite some challenges due to the pandemic, the ceremony was a touching moment that included members of the Williamson family, who sold the land where the temple now stands—a lovely nod to the community’s rich history.
After everyone patiently waited, the temple opened its doors for a public open house from October 27 to December 16, 2023. Visitors could experience the serene beauty and uplifting atmosphere of this special place. Spanning 15.39 acres, the temple impressively features exterior walls made from gorgeous pedras salgadas granite imported from Portugal and charming bronze-colored doors that welcome everyone.
As you approach, you’ll notice the striking architecture, highlighted by a graceful three-story structure topped with a slender central spire. Inside, the space is just as inviting, with 71,998 square feet designed for peace and reflection. It contains four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all crafted with care to support spiritual journeys.
One of the standout features of the temple is its beautiful windows adorned with taupe-hued art glass. They creatively depict cherry blossoms and the local wetlands surrounding Utah Lake, bringing the stunning outdoor scenery inside. The temple’s interior features exquisite Crema Marfil marble from Turkey, with intricate patterns of color that create a warm and welcoming ambiance.
The landscaping around the temple is a sight to behold, too! Imagine strolling among Norwegian sunset maples, snow queen hydrangeas, and the lively whirling butterflies. It’s a lovely blend of colors and textures that adds to the overall charm.
Elder Christensen described the Orem Utah Temple as “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.” It’s truly a place where individuals and families can connect, find peace, and grow in their faith. With 26 stakes in the area at the time of the announcement, the temple represents a warm beacon of hope and community spirit.
So whether you’re a local or just visiting, the Orem Utah Temple invites you to come and experience its beauty, wisdom, and sense of community!
