Announced on April 12, 1999, the Reno Nevada Temple’s groundbreaking and site dedication took place on July 24, 1999, led by Rex D. Pinegar. Following years of dedicated effort, the public had the opportunity to explore the Temple during an open house from April 8 to April 15, 2000. The Temple was officially dedicated by Prophet Thomas S. Monson.
Architectural Features
The Temple is constructed on 7.9 acres and features an impressive design. The exterior finish is composed of gray granite, which was quarried near Sharon, Vermont. A striking architectural element is the single attached end spire topped with a gold leafed painted Angel Moroni Statue, which adds to the Temple’s elegance.
Interior Spaces
Inside, the Reno Nevada Temple spans 10,700 square feet and includes:
- Two instruction rooms
- Two sealing rooms
- One baptistry
