In Provo’s heart, a temple stood,
A beacon bright, in wood and stone,
Dubbed “spaceship” or “cupcake,” it was good,
With tales of faith, its history shone.
Now, a transformation graces the east bench,
The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple takes form,
Yet whispers of loss in many a quench,
As fond memories of the old begin to swarm.
Concrete walls rise, a spire reaching high,
Windows brightening the south and east,
Foundations laid beneath the vast sky,
Crafting a structure that some see as least.
By 2027, the vision will bloom,
An open house beckoning hearts once again,
Though nostalgia lingers like a soft, sweet perfume,
Hope rises anew, like the dawn after rain.
In 2021, a call for the past,
Preserve the old, let the quirky remain,
But change is the thread through which life is cast,
As cherished dreams weave joy and pain.
For the relics of yesterday must make way,
And though hearts may ache for the familiar embrace,
This new temple, in time, will surely sway,
Becoming a haven, a sacred space.
So let the new design take its place in the sky,
As memories mingle with the promise of grace;
For in the hearts of many, the spirit will sigh,
This temple will bloom, and love will embrace.
