On April 4, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson announced the plans for the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. With over 154,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints residing in Oregon, this new building signifies growth and continued faith in the region. The presence of settlers in Oregon dates back to 1887, establishing roots that have blossomed into a vibrant religious landscape currently featuring over 300 congregations.
Location and Design Features
Situated at 3701 Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple is built on an impressive 10.5 acres. Spanning 30,000 square feet and standing 120 feet tall at an elevation of 429 feet, this edifice boasts a single attached central spire. Designed with purpose, it contains two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, offering space for various important elements of faith.
Groundbreaking and Floral Decorations
The groundbreaking ceremony held on October 29, 2022, marked the official start of this remarkable construction, presided over by Elder Valeri V. Cordón. The floral décor throughout the temple features Dogwood and Laurel flowers, adding a natural and vibrant beauty to the interior.
Upcoming Events and Dedication
A media day is scheduled for April 20, 2026, allowing invited guests to tour the facility on April 21 and 22. The public can experience the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple from April 23 to May 9, excluding Sundays. The dedication ceremony will take place on June 7, 2026, with Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles officiating. The event is set for 10:00 a.m., with a rebroadcast at 2:00 p.m.
