The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple: A New Chapter in Oregon’s History
On April 4, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson revealed exciting plans for the construction of the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. Set to be dedicated on June 7, 2026, the anticipation has been building ever since the groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on October 29, 2022, presided over by Elder Valeri V. Cordón.
Located at 3701 Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, this significant addition will sit on 10.5 acres and boast an impressive total of 30,000 square feet. With a height of 120 feet and an elevation of 429 feet, the building’s architectural highlights include a striking single attached central spire. Inside, the design features two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all tailored to meet the needs of its participants.
The expansion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the region is notable, as Oregon is home to roughly 154,000 members and over 300 congregations. The connection to the earliest settlers, who began arriving in 1887, adds a rich historical context to this development, demonstrating the growth and resilience of the Latter-day Saint presence in the area.
As the countdown to the open house beginning on April 23, 2026, continues, anticipation further builds around how this addition will serve the needs of the Latter-day Saint members in the Willamette Valley and beyond. This new space represents not only a physical addition to the area but also a renewed commitment to fostering spiritual growth and connecting individuals to their faith.
Stay tuned for further updates as the completion date approaches, and the opportunity to explore what the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple has to offer becomes a reality for many.
