Exciting news for the Latter-day Saints community in Florida! On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson made a momentous announcement during the October General Conference—a brand new Jacksonville Florida Temple is on the way! This will be the fifth temple in the Sunshine State, spotlighting the vibrant community of over 160,000 Latter-day Saints and more than 280 congregations across Florida.
Situated in the picturesque northeastern part of Florida, the Jacksonville Florida Temple will grace a beautiful 6.6-acre site on Loretto Road. Designed with a stunning single attached central tower, this architectural marvel will encompass around 29,000 square feet. Inside, the temple will feature two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, providing ample space for sacred ceremonies and community gatherings.
With an elevation of just 18 feet, the Jacksonville Florida Temple promises to blend harmoniously with its surroundings, creating an inviting spiritual haven for the dedicated members in the area. Currently in the planning stages, the project is eagerly anticipated, though a groundbreaking date has not yet been announced.
On December 16, 2024, the excitement ramped up even further when an exterior rendering of the temple was released, giving a glimpse of the beauty that is to come. This new temple will not only enhance the spiritual landscape of Jacksonville but will also serve as a pillar of hope and faith for the entire community. Stay tuned for more updates as this incredible project unfolds!
