Exciting Announcement: The Layton Utah Temple Is Coming!

We have some incredible news to share! During the Sunday Afternoon Session of the 188th Annual General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson confidently announced the construction of the Layton Utah Temple. First revealed on April 1, 2018, this magnificent temple will soon stand as a beacon of faith and hope in our community.

Picture this: the stunning Layton Utah Temple, complete with its impressive twin spires and the shining gold-leafed angel Moroni statue standing majestically at the top. With a substantial footprint of 93,539 square feet, the temple will feature four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and a beautifully designed baptistry. At 215 feet tall and perched at an elevation of 4,468 feet, it will undeniably enhance the skyline, situated on an expansive 11.8-acre pasture at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane in Layton.

This temple will mark Utah’s twenty-second temple and the second in Davis County, following the well-respected Bountiful Utah Temple. The excitement surged when the official exterior rendering was unveiled on October 8, 2019, giving the community a thrilling look at the beauty that lies ahead.

At the groundbreaking ceremony on May 23, 2020, Elder Craig C. Christensen, president of the Utah Area, expressed our collective gratitude with a powerful statement: “We are very grateful to join you from this impressive and beautiful site. Like every temple, it is the product of the faith of Latter-day Saints who live in this area and around the world.” His words perfectly encapsulated the spirit of our faith and determination. Elder Randy D. Funk also offered a dedicatory prayer, declaring that this temple would serve as “a beacon of light for the entire community and a blessing for all”—and we wholeheartedly believe in that vision.

Mark your calendars! On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside over the dedication of the Layton Utah Temple. Two live broadcast sessions will be available at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to ensure everyone in the temple district can be part of this momentous occasion. Before the dedication, we invite the community to a public open house from April 19 through June 1, 2024, excluding Sundays—an opportunity everyone should seize! Additionally, on April 15, there will be a special media day for invited guests to tour the temple before it welcomes the general public.

The Layton Utah Temple is not just a building; it’s an embodiment of our faith, resilience, and community spirit. We eagerly anticipate its opening and the countless blessings it will bring to Layton and beyond!
