• Base Isolation System: Nearly 100 state-of-the-art isolators now sit beneath the foundation, allowing the temple to sway safely up to five feet during earthquakes—protecting its historic integrity with a smart, resilient design.
• Deep Foundations: 46 sturdy holes approximately 150 feet deep have been drilled through the granite walls, housing tension cables that anchor the spires to a reinforced foundation, ensuring strength and stability.
• Foundation Reinforcement: Using advanced “jack and bore” techniques, steel tubes filled with concrete have been inserted beneath existing footings, solidifying the temple’s base for future stability.
