Initiatives for this location began even before construction, as dedicated individuals gathered funds to make this vision a reality.
The Temple is built on 7.5 acres, surrounded by a picturesque neighborhood. The exterior features precast stone walls and a built-up roof, offering an aesthetic that beautifully blends with its surroundings. An impressive single attached end spire rises 90 feet into the sky, topped by a gold-leafed statue of the Angel Moroni, adding to its striking presence against the Colorado skyline.
Milestones and Attendance
After a considerable construction effort, the doors opened to the public from September 8th through the 27th in 1986, attracting around 140,000 guests. The dedication ceremonies took place from October 24th through the 28th in the same year, led by the Prophet Ezra Taft Benson, with over 28,000 members in attendance.

Spanning 29,117 square feet, the Denver Colorado Temple includes four instruction rooms, five sealing rooms, and one baptistry, providing a diverse array of facilities to meet various needs. A Lasting Legacy
During the cornerstone ceremony, the Prophet Ezra Taft Benson remarked that the Temple serves as a “beacon to members and nonmembers alike…a constant, visible sign that God has not left man to grope in darkness.” This sentiment reflects the broader significance and aspiration behind the establishment of the Denver Colorado Temple.
