Welcome to the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, a special place that shines brightly as the 43rd dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! It’s not just a beautiful building; it’s a true reflection of the heart and dedication of the local community. When the temple was announced on April 7, 1984, members rolled up their sleeves and volunteered their support, raising an incredible $11 million—an amazing 428% above what was expected!

The excitement kicked off on November 30, 1985, when the ground breaking ceremony took place, led by the beloved Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. Over 6,000 enthusiastic attendees filled the Las Vegas Convention Center, all eager to celebrate this wonderful project and what it meant for their community.

Fast forward to a few years later, and the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived! The temple welcomed visitors from November 16 to December 9, 1989, during a public open house that saw nearly 297,480 people walk through its doors before its formal dedication from December 16 to 18, again led by President Hinckley.

Spread out over 10.3 acres, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple is a sight to behold. Its stunning exterior shines with white precast stone and features a lovely copper roof. You can’t miss the six majestic spires that reach toward the sky, each topped with a sparkling gold-leafed angel Moroni statue, symbolizing the heralding of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. It’s a beautiful reminder of faith and hope!

Step inside, and you’ll find a peaceful escape from the vibrant Las Vegas scene. The Celestial Room is particularly breathtaking, with its floor-to-ceiling windows that let in natural sunlight, casting lovely rainbows on the walls. It’s the perfect spot to relax and reflect.

As Nevada’s very first temple, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple is a place of worship and a symbol of the commitment and love of the people who helped bring it to life. Whether you live in the area or are just visiting, taking some time to explore this magnificent temple will surely leave you feeling uplifted and inspired!
