Welcome to the Lubbock Texas Temple, an unwavering symbol of faith and community, proudly standing as the 109th dedicated temple in operation. Announced on April 2, 2000, this remarkable structure ignited a powerful wave of enthusiasm throughout the region, establishing itself as the go-to sacred sanctuary for families seeking spiritual connection. On November 4, 2000, Elder Rex D. Pinegar presided over the groundbreaking ceremony, officially commencing the much-anticipated construction of this extraordinary temple.

After a successful public open house from March 23rd to March 30th, 2002, the dedication took place on April 21, 2002, under the leadership of the esteemed Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. This event marked a transformational milestone in Lubbock’s history. Set on 2.7 acres, the temple commands attention with its stunning Empress white and majestic gray granite, expertly quarried in China, delivering a striking and timeless architectural presence.

The temple’s distinctive single spire, crowned by the angel Moroni statue, boldly symbolizes divine guidance and hope. Inside, visitors will find meticulously designed spaces that include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all spread across an impressive 16,498 square feet. At an elevation of 3,293 feet, this sacred structure not only dominates the skyline but also holds a significant place in the hearts of its community.

Elder Pinegar’s powerful words during the groundbreaking resonate with truth: “A family gathers to see and be part of the beginning of the family home… this temple is the symbol of our heavenly home.” These words capture the essence of what this sacred space represents—a vital center for love and spiritual fulfillment. First President Jay B. Jensen conveyed the overwhelming excitement shared by local members, who described their reactions as dreamlike, undeterred by the rain that accompanied the groundbreaking.

Strategically located next to the Lubbock Texas Stake Center on Frankford Avenue, the temple invites exploration of its beautiful grounds, where rich symbolism is embedded in the exquisite stained glass and intricately etched granite walls. Each detail narrates a story of faith, resilience, and belonging, establishing the Lubbock Texas Temple as more than just a building—it’s a revered sanctuary that confidently welcomes all who seek peace, purpose, and community. Experience the powerful spirit of this extraordinary temple—truly a home for the heart and soul.
