The journey of the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple began on October 3, 1992, when it was announced to the public. Following the initial announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on October 9, 1993, led by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. This marked the beginning of what would become a cherished location for believers.
Public Open House and Dedication
A moment of excitement came with the public open house, which took place from August 6 to September 21, 1996. Over 679,217 people toured the Temple, marveling at its beauty and significance. The dedication followed shortly thereafter, from October 13 to October 19, 1996, also conducted by Gordon B. Hinckley.
Architectural Features
The Temple was built on 16.7 acres and encompasses an impressive area of 107,240 square feet. Its exterior features sierra white granite with art glass windows, as well as striking bronze doors. One of the most distinguishing architectural aspects is the single attached end spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, which was installed on July 17, 1995, in a ceremony attended by approximately 20,000 people.

Inside, the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple contains four instruction rooms, eight sealing rooms, and one baptistry. Its adaptive floor plan shares similarities with the Bountiful Utah Temple, featuring thoughtful design elements that enhance both function and aesthetics.
Location and Surroundings
Situated at a height of 190 feet, the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple is the second Temple in Utah County and the ninth built in the state overall. The land on which it resides was previously designated as church welfare land, underscoring its purpose within the broader context of service and outreach.
Inspiring Message
A notable inscription on the Temple reads “Holiness to the Lord,” which is displayed twice on the building. It adorns the exterior above the east windows and is etched into the glass near the west entrance, serving as a reminder of the sacredness attributed to this location.
