LDS Temple News Mount Timpangos Utah Temple

Welcome to the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple, a lovely gem nestled in American Fork! It’s heartwarming to share its story, which began on October 3, 1992, when the announcement was made to build this beautiful temple. Just a year later, on October 8, 1993, President Gordon B. Hinckley led the groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of this special journey.

After years of anticipation, the temple opened its doors to the community from August 6 to September 21, 1996, where many had the chance to explore its serene spaces before the official dedication, lovingly conducted by President Hinckley himself.

As the 49th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mount Timpanogos Temple holds a special spot in all our hearts as the second temple in Utah County. It’s impressively spacious, covering 107,240 square feet, and features four beautiful ordinance rooms, eight cozy sealing rooms, and a peaceful baptistry for all seeking sacred moments.

The temple’s exterior is truly a sight to behold, finished in lovely Sierra white granite, complete with stunning art glass windows and elegant bronze doors that invite everyone in. Set on a generous 16.7-acre lot, it serves as a warm, welcoming place for both members and visitors.
