Introducing the Pocatello Idaho Temple—a magnificent testament to faith and community that proudly stands as the 170th dedicated temple in operation. Located at 3100 Butte St in Pocatello, this temple is poised to become a central pillar of spiritual life in the region.

The story of this remarkable temple began on April 2, 2017, when its announcement energized both locals and church members alike. The formal groundbreaking on March 16, 2019, led by Elder Wilford W. Andersen, marked a significant milestone in bringing this vision to life.

From September 18 to October 23, 2021, the temple opened its doors for a public open house, welcoming an impressive 250,721 visitors—an extraordinary turnout that reflects the community’s strong enthusiasm. The dedication ceremony on November 7, 2021, conducted by Apostle M. Russell Ballard, was a moment of profound reverence and hope. Elder Ballard’s inspiring prayer exemplified the temple’s mission, asking for blessings on those who would visit and serve within its sacred walls.

Occupying 10.94 acres, the Pocatello Idaho Temple features an exterior crafted from striking white granite sourced from China, providing an awe-inspiring sight. At the top, a beautifully designed spire adorned with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue stands as a bold symbol of faith. Inside, the 71,125 square feet of carefully curated space includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a welcoming baptistry, all designed to empower the spiritual journey of visitors.

With a commanding height of 194 feet 6 inches and an elevation of 4,989 feet, this remarkable temple can be seen from both Interstate 15 and Interstate 86, making it a significant Temple in the area. Surrounding the temple are over 500 trees and thousands of vibrant flowers, meticulously chosen to create an inviting environment. The landscape features species like Norwegian sunset maple and snow queen hydrangea, enhancing the temple’s serene atmosphere.

As you enter, you will be captivated by thoughtful details, including a stunning stained glass window depicting Jesus Christ holding a lamb and a grand staircase elegantly clad in travertine limestone. Spanning three stories, the temple beautifully marries architecture with spiritual significance, reflecting the strength and unity of the community.

This temple’s history adds to its significance. Initially proposed as early as the 1930s, plans for the first temple were stalled due to water obstacles, but the dream was finally realized in 2017, making this temple a profound achievement for Pocatello.

The Pocatello Idaho Temple is more than a place of Temple Work—it is a bold symbol of hope, faith, and community. We invite everyone to experience the depth of spirituality and connection that this exceptional temple embodies. Come and be part of the thriving community that makes the Pocatello Idaho Temple a truly remarkable place!
