Exploring the Boise Idaho Temple: A Marvel of Spiritual Design

On March 31, 1982, an exciting announcement was made – the Boise Idaho Temple was set to become a reality. This development sparked a wave of anticipation among many, culminating in a momentous occasion on December 18, 1982, when the site was dedicated by Apostle Mark E. Petersen. This ceremony attracted around 5,000 attendees, showcasing the eager support from the local population.

The Boise LDS Temple’s exterior is truly stunning, clad in white granite sourced from China, creating a visually striking contrast against the natural beauty of Idaho. One of its most notable architectural features includes six detached spires, crowned by a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni, which was added on February 16, 2012. The overall design mirrors that of both the Dallas Texas Temple and the Chicago Illinois Temple, although each location is distinguished by its unique landscaping and surrounding features.

Occupying 4.83 acres, the Boise Idaho Temple spans an impressive 35,868 square feet. Its elevation of 2,754 feet adds to the grandeur of this magnificent space, which reaches a height of 112 feet. Inside, you can find four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to enhance the experience for those who visit.

The last public open house occurred between October 13 and November 10, 2012, with a remarkable 128,716 visitors taking the opportunity to tour the temple during this period. The picturesque grounds include a delightful water feature and imposing trees, providing an inviting atmosphere for exploration and reflection.

Located at 1211 S Cole Rd in Boise, Idaho, the Boise LDS Temple also shares its parking lot with a meeting house, allowing for convenient access to both facilities. As the 27th dedicated temple in operation, it stands as a testimony to both architectural beauty and spiritual significance.

Whether you’re a resident or just passing through, the Boise Idaho Temple is a must-see for anyone interested in remarkable design and the deep-rooted traditions it represents. This gem in the heart of Idaho invites exploration and appreciation from all who visit.
