A Brief History
The journey of this remarkable site began with an announcement on September 30, 1995. Following this, a momentous occasion took place on June 13, 1997, when Apostle Richard G. Scott conducted the groundbreaking and site dedication. This marked the beginning of a beloved place that would soon welcome visitors from near and far.
The doors of the establishment opened to the public during an open house that ran from August 29 to September 23, 2000. On October 1, 2000, the space was then dedicated by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, marking its official commencement.
Architectural Details
Covering 8 acres, the Boston Massachusetts Temple is a sight to behold. With a stunning exterior finished in Olympia white granite, it reflects grace and elegance. One of its most striking architectural features is the single attached end spire crowned with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, which was installed on September 21, 2011, enhancing its beauty even further.
This expansive facility encompasses 69,900 square feet and rises to a height of 139 feet, elevated at 331 feet above sea level on a wooded granite hillside. The location offers breathtaking views, especially from the nearby Concord Turnpike, where it can be easily spotted.
