A Historical Journey
The journey of the Brigham City Utah Temple began on October 3, 2009, when Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced its construction during the 179th Semiannual General Conference. Groundbreaking and dedication of the site took place on July 31, 2010, led by Apostle Boyd K. Packer, marking a significant milestone in the Temple’s development.
Following the construction phase, the public open house took place from August 15 to September 15, 2012, offering a glimpse into the intricacies of this remarkable building before its official dedication on September 23, 2012, also led by Apostle Boyd K. Packer.
Architectural Highlights
Spanning an impressive 36,000 square feet and situated on 3.14 acres, the Temple showcases a unique exterior finish of precast concrete limestone, blending elegance with durability. At a towering height of 165 feet and built at an elevation of 4,454 feet, the Temple provides a stunning visual that can be appreciated from various vantage points in the city.
The Temple features two attached end spires, topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. The installation of this statue was a memorable event, completed in just 50 minutes, with around 5,000 onlookers witnessing the moment.
Functional Spaces
Inside, the Brigham City Utah Temple is thoughtfully designed with two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, catering to various events and ceremonies. Its two-story underground garage accommodates ample parking, with a total of 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls available.
Interestingly, this site was once home to an old school, which has since been demolished to make way for this significant addition to the area. The Temple itself is conveniently located directly across the street from the Box Elder Tabernacle.
A First for Box Elder County
Notably, the Brigham City Utah Temple is the fourteenth Temple built in Utah and the very first within Box Elder County. This adds a special distinction to its presence in the region, serving as a focal point for those seeking spiritual reflection and connection.
