The Cody Wyoming Temple: A New Chapter for the Area
The Cody Wyoming Temple, located at 1719 Wyoming Avenue in Cody, WY 82414, represents a significant milestone in the region. Announced by Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 3, 2021, this facility has generated much anticipation since its inception.
On September 27, 2024, Elder Steven R. Bangerter officiated the groundbreaking and site dedication, sharing a profound message about the impact it will have on the area. He expressed hopes that the presence of the Temple would bring added joy, prosperity, beauty, and unity into the lives of residents.
Covering 4.69 acres, the Cody Wyoming Temple boasts a spacious design of 8,050 square feet. Standing tall at a height of 101 feet, it will truly add to the landscape. The exterior features a single attached central tower, and unlike some Temples, it does not have a gold-leafed angel Moroni statue.
Inside, the facility includes one instruction room, one sealing room, and a baptistry, all designed to facilitate various ceremonies and activities. The rendering released to the public on March 27, 2023, showcased a striking design, highlighted by a multi-steeple topped with a pyramidal spire.
When completed, this Temple will be the third of its kind in Wyoming, serving as a significant addition to the region. The elevation of 5,134 feet adds a unique perspective, allowing it to stand out in the breathtaking Wyoming landscape.
As the construction progresses, the anticipation around this new Temple continues to build, promising to enrich the lives of many in the Cody area and beyond.
