The journey of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple began on April 7, 2019, when Prophet Russell M. Nelson announced its construction during a significant conference. This announcement was met with excitement, as it followed the establishment of the 100th Dedicated Temple—the Boston, Massachusetts Temple. On May 15, 2021, the groundbreaking took place, led by Elder Brook P. Hales, a local General Authority. This moment marked the beginning of a new era for the local religious community.
The official dedication occurred on November 10, 2024, and it is now an integral part of the area. Alongside it, a spacious 20,000-square-foot meetinghouse enhances the experience for those participating in various activities.
Architectural Features
The exterior of the Temple showcases an elegant finish of glass fiber-reinforced concrete. It features a single attached central tower, designed to accommodate a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue in the future, in line with other Temples.
Within its three stories, the Temple houses four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a single baptistry. Each of these spaces contributes to the sacred nature of the experiences carried out within its walls.
