As the holiday season descends upon Salt Lake City, a magical transformation unfolds outside the global headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Picture this twinkling lights, vibrant displays, and a warm, Christ Centered spirit fill the air, creating a festive atmosphere that invites everyone to partake in the joy of the season.

This winter, Temple Square is brimming with even more opportunities for fun and exploration! While some areas around the beautifully scaffold covered Salt Lake Temple remain closed as renovations continue, there’s still plenty to enjoy. Mark your calendars for the exciting open house celebration in April 2027 that will welcome visitors back into the temple once renovations are completed.

From now until January 1st, the stunning light displays in Temple Square shine brightly every day from 6:00 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4:30 to 10 p.m., making it the perfect spot for a festive stroll. And that’s not all! Downtown Salt Lake City is alive with holiday cheer, featuring the dazzling Christmas tree at City Creek Center, the whimsical candy windows at Macy’s, the enchanting “The Turning Season display at the Eccles Theater, and the festive ice rink at Gallivan Center, where families can create cherished memories.

For those seeking holiday magic beyond the lights, Temple Square has a host of exciting events awaiting your visit

 Dine in Style Reserve your table at The Roof restaurant, perched atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, for a special holiday dining experience. This recently renovated gem reopened its doors on November 14th, offering spectacular views and a delicious menu.

 Explore History and Joy Visit the Church History Museum, where the spirit of the season comes alive with musical performances from local groups, Victorian Christmas decor in the Drawing Room, and heartwarming Giving Machines in the lobby. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, it’s a delightful destination for all ages.

 Art and Christmas Cheer Swing by the Conference Center to soak in the festive atmosphere with stunning Christmasthemed artwork on display, available for viewing during regular hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

 A Musical Treat Join us for “Music and the Spoken Word, a beloved tradition every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Conference Center. Don’t miss the special performance on December 14th featuring the talented Block and Arcelus. Admission is free, making it an easy way to lift your holiday spirits!

 Theatrical Wonder Experience the moving theatrical performance, “Savior of the World, running through December 27th (except Sundays and Mondays) at 2 p.m. and 730 p.m. in the Little Theater. While tickets have been distributed, a standby line will be available for those who want to seize a chance to see this spectacular show.

 Vibrant Community Performances From now until December 23rd, enjoy a variety of concerts and performances throughout Temple Square.
