Get ready to be amazed by the beautiful Grand Junction Colorado Temple! This stunning architectural gem graces 7.93 acres and stands tall at 118 feet, complete with a striking central spire that really catches the eye at an elevation of 4,962 feet.
The excitement began on April 4, 2021, when Prophet Russell M. Nelson unveiled the plans for this incredible Temple during the 191st Annual General Conference. The Latter-day Saints community in Colorado has been thriving since 1896, and with over 150,000 members and around 310 congregations, the buzz about this Temple has been absolutely electric! It’s the third Temple announced in the state and promises to be a wonderful spiritual haven.
Located in a picturesque area of 6.94 acres at the vibrant intersection of Horizon Drive and North 12th Street, this Temple is just a hop away from the Interstate 70 interchange. The official exterior design, revealed on September 17, 2021, filled many hearts with wonder about what this beautiful building would look like.
On a sunny Saturday, April 16, 2022, Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong of the Quorum of the Seventy led the groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of this exciting new chapter. With a spacious 29,630 square feet, the Temple is designed to reflect both spiritual meaning and local beauty. Elder Wong’s dedicatory prayer, offered the day before Easter Sunday, was a heartfelt moment, celebrating the Atonement of Jesus Christ and dedicating the land for generations to come.
Save the date for September 8, 2025! That day will kick off a fun media day, with two exclusive days of tours for invited guests and open public tours from September 11 to September 27. The grand dedication is set for October 19, 2025, led by President Jeffrey R. Holland, and the whole community will come together to celebrate this special occasion!
