The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on December 4, 2024, presided over by Elder Mathias Held of the North America Northeast Area Presidency. During the ceremony held on December 7, 2024, Elder Held expressed enthusiasm about the project’s progress, stating, “We can witness before our eyes how the work is rolling forward, how the Lord is hastening His work at this very special time.” His dedicatory prayer emphasized hopes for the site to become a place of spiritual strength and power.

Architectural Features

Spanning 10.32 acres, the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple features unique architectural elements. The building covers an expansive 20,123 square feet and reaches a height of 95 feet. Notably, it incorporates a single attached end spire, but it does not feature a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, making its design distinctive in various aspects.
