On May 8, 2010, Elder Ronald A. Rasband broke ground on this inspiring project, set on a beautiful 8.05-acre site. The temple, with its striking precast concrete exterior and iconic twin towers crowned with a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni, became a breathtaking addition to the Kansas City skyline. Inside, the serene environment features two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry, encompassing 32,000 square feet of sacred space.
The culmination of years of dreaming and building came on May 6, 2012, when President Thomas S. Monson led a poignant dedication ceremony. This event held great significance, taking place in an area rich with the early history of the Church and reflective of the trials faced by early Saints. Monson’s heartfelt remarks honored their sacrifices, capturing the deeply spiritual atmosphere that enveloped the dedication.
Surrounded by stunningly landscaped grounds adorned with vibrant flora, the temple invites visitors to explore its beauty and divine spirit. Before its official opening, nearly 91,000 people attended a public open house, marveling at the temple’s significance and stunning design.
