On November 30, 1985, the excitement kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony led by President Gordon B. Hinckley, where over 6,000 people gathered at the Las Vegas Convention Center to share in the joy of this special occasion. It was a clear sign of how much this temple meant to the community.

After years of dedication, the temple opened its doors to the public for a wonderful open house from November 16 to December 9, 1989, welcoming a whopping 297,480 visitors eager to explore its beauty before the official dedication, which took place from December 16 to 18, 1989, again with President Hinckley leading the ceremony.

Spanning 10.3 acres, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple dazzles with its gorgeous white precast stone exterior and copper roof. It features six elegant spires, each topped with a golden statue of the angel Moroni, facing east and symbolizing hope and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
