Local members showed their incredible spirit by coming together to raise an amazing $11 million—more than four times what was originally expected—for its construction!

The excitement kicked off on November 30, 1985, when the groundbreaking ceremony took place, led by the beloved Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. Thousands of enthusiastic community members gathered at the Las Vegas Convention Center to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Fast forward to the grand opening—a spectacular 23-day public open house from November 16 to December 9, 1989. During this time, nearly 300,000 visitors came through the doors, eager to explore the stunning new temple before its dedication, which happened from December 16 to 18, 1989, also led by President Hinckley.

Sitting on 10.3 acres, the temple is an architectural gem. With its elegant white precast stone exterior and gleaming copper roof, it truly stands out. Six beautiful spires grace the skyline, each topped with a golden angel Moroni statue. This statue, positioned to face east, symbolizes hope and the promise of Jesus Christ’s return.
