LDS Temple News Presents Medford Oregon Temple
The Medford Oregon Temple was announced to the public on March 15, 1999, by the Prophet during a General Conference. Shortly after, the groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on May 20, 1999, led by D. Lee Tobler.
An open house was held from March 24 to March 29, 2000, attracting an impressive 46,000 attendees—16,000 more than anticipated. The dedication took place on April 16, 2000, officiated by Apostle James E. Faust.
Architectural Features
The Temple is constructed on a 2-acre site and boasts a total area of 10,700 square feet. Its exterior is finished with gray granite quarried from Mount Airy, North Carolina. Architecturally, it features a single attached end spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, making it a striking presence in the landscape.

Significance in the Region

Interestingly, both the general contractor and job superintendent associated with the construction of the Medford Oregon Temple were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, highlighting the local connection and involvement in its development.
