The announcement of the Moses Lake Washington Temple took place on April 7, 2019. Soon after, the groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on October 10, 2020, led by Brother Stapleton. The official exterior rendering was released on April 7, 2020, showcasing a design that would come to life in the form of a single-story building of approximately 20,000 square feet, alongside plans for a meetinghouse measuring around 17,000 square feet.
The public Open House held from August 4 to August 19, 2023, attracted an impressive 290,000 attendees, demonstrating the Temple’s significance to the local populace.
Architectural Features
The Moses Lake Washington Temple is constructed on 17 acres of land, reaching a height of 117 feet and sitting at an elevation of 1,157 feet. The exterior finish is composed of Branco Cristal granite quarried in Portugal, giving it a striking appearance. Notable architectural features include a single attached central spire, which enhances its silhouette against the sky.
Interior Highlights
The interior of the Temple is as impressive as its exterior. It encompasses a total floor area of 28,933 square feet, featuring two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The design incorporates a blossom motif paired with a prairie-style border pattern, reflective of the Native American heritage in the Moses Lake area.
