LDS Temple News Presents Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple Photography

Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a beautiful gem located in Yukon, Oklahoma! As the 95th temple to be dedicated, it has become a cherished place for many since its groundbreaking on July 3, 1999, which was a special moment celebrated by Elder Rex D. Pinegar.

The excitement began way back on March 14, 1999, when the temple was announced, and it quickly became a source of joy for the community. After a lot of hard work, the temple opened its doors for the first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000, giving thousands the chance to enjoy its peaceful atmosphere. The official dedication was held on July 30, 2000, led by Apostle James E. Faust, marking a significant milestone for everyone involved.

With its lovely beige limestone exterior and a stunning spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is truly a sight to see! Spanning one acre, it features serene grounds complete with a lovely fountain, making it a wonderful spot to relax and reflect. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous Italian marble finishes, two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to create a special atmosphere for worship.

This temple isn’t just a local treasure; it serves members across Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri, creating a warm and welcoming spiritual community. After its second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, the temple was rededicated on May 19 by Apostle Henry B. Eyring following some significant renovations that began in October 2017.

Standing at 83 feet 9 inches tall and sitting at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is not just impressive in stature but also in spirit. It was the first temple built in Oklahoma, initially serving 9,000 members. With its rich story and beautiful design, the temple remains a beloved sanctuary, filling the hearts of all who visit with hope and inspiration. Come and experience this lovely space for yourself!
