Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a beautiful gem located in Yukon, Oklahoma! This lovely temple, which opened its doors as the 95th in the world, has become a cherished place for many since its groundbreaking on July 3, 1999, led by Elder Rex D. Pinegar.
The excitement really began on March 14, 1999, when the temple was announced. After a construction journey filled with hope and anticipation, the first public open house took place from July 8 to July 22, 2000, allowing thousands of visitors to explore its serene halls. Just a few weeks later, on July 30, 2000, Apostle James E. Faust dedicated the temple, marking a special day for our community.
With its stunning beige limestone exterior and a striking spire topped by a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, the Oklahoma City Temple is a sight to behold! Set on an acre of beautiful grounds featuring lush landscaping and a peaceful fountain, it’s not just a place of worship but a lovely spot to soak in some tranquility. Inside, the temple shines with elegant Italian marble and offers two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry that make it a welcoming space for everyone.
Serving a broad community, the temple reaches out to friends and families in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri, creating a place of connection and support. After undergoing renovations from October 2017 to May 2019, we celebrated a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, leading up to a rededication on May 19, 2019, with Apostle Henry B. Eyring officiating.
Standing tall at 83 feet 9 inches and perched at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is proud to be the first temple in Oklahoma. When it was dedicated, it served 9,000 members in the area, making it a true hub of community and spirituality. We invite you to visit and experience the warmth and beauty of this special place!
