LDS Temple News Presents Orem Utah Temple

Welcome to the Orem Utah Temple, a beautiful addition to the community that serves as the 188th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! You can find it at 1451 S 1100 W in Orem, Utah—right in the heart of a vibrant area that has experienced incredible growth.

The story of this temple began on October 5, 2019, when the exciting announcement was made. Fast forward to September 5, 2020, and the groundbreaking ceremony took place—a moment filled with love and anticipation, lovingly presided over by Elder Craig C. Christensen. Even with the challenges of the pandemic, the event drew heartfelt attendance, including several descendants of the Williamson family, who sold the land where the temple now stands.

After years of waiting, the doors opened to the public for a special open house from October 27 to December 16, 2023. It was an amazing opportunity for everyone to come and admire the stunning design and peaceful atmosphere of the temple before its official dedication. The temple spreads across a lovely 15.39-acre site, showcasing a gorgeous exterior made of pedras salgadas granite from Portugal, and welcoming visitors with charming bronze-colored doors.

As you approach the temple, you can’t help but admire its unique three-story structure, topped with a graceful, slender spire. Inside, you’ll find a spacious 71,998 square feet filled with serene spaces, including four instructional rooms, four sealing rooms, and a baptistry—all designed to uplift and inspire.

One of the most delightful features of the temple is its beautiful windows, adorned with lovely taupe-hued art glass that highlights cherry blossoms and enchanting scenes from the local wetlands around Utah Lake. It beautifully connects the temple to the surrounding landscape. The interior is equally captivating, showcasing stunning Crema Marfil marble from Turkey, with colorful patterns that invite you to pause and reflect.

Walking around the temple grounds, you’ll notice a thoughtfully designed landscape filled with vibrant plants like Norwegian sunset maples and snow queen hydrangeas—adding a cheerful splash of color to the serene environment.

Elder Christensen shared a heartfelt sentiment, describing the Orem Utah Temple as “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.” It is truly a special place for individuals and families to grow in faith and find comfort. With 26 stakes and counting in the area at the time of the announcement, this temple has become a beacon of hope and belonging for the community.

The Orem Utah Temple isn’t just a stunning building; it’s a warm and welcoming place where everyone can find peace and connection. We invite you to visit and experience its beauty for yourself!
