LDS Temple News Presents Payson Utah Temple a House of the Lord

The Payson Utah Temple stands as the 146th dedicated temple and a profound symbol of faith and community. Its journey began on January 25, 2010, when Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced its construction, emphasizing the vital role of temples in answering life’s most profound questions: “Temples answer those soul-searching questions of the purpose of life, of why we are here and where we are going. They are sanctuaries from the storms of life…”

Fast forward to October 8, 2011, when Apostle Dallin H. Oaks conducted the groundbreaking and site dedication. It was a moment filled with hope and anticipation, with over 7,000 attendees braving a light rain and chilly 32-degree weather, united in a shared vision for this sacred space. As Oaks noted, the temple will stand as a “dominant and visible influence” for the millions who travel along I-15.

After years of hard work, the doors opened to the public for an inspiring open house from April 24 to May 23, 2015, drawing an astounding 475,542 visitors eager to explore its beautiful interiors. Finally, on June 7, 2015, the temple was dedicated by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, marking a significant milestone for the community.

Nestled on 10.63 acres, the temple’s striking exterior features cream precast concrete panels and a majestic central spire crowned with a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni. The temple encompasses 96,630 square feet of sacred space, housing three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to facilitate spiritual growth and connection.

Located at an elevation of 4,691 feet and standing tall at 208 feet, the Payson Utah Temple is more than just a building; it’s a beacon of hope, faith, and community unity. Its address, 1494 S 930 W, Payson, Utah 84651, marks the place where countless individuals will come seeking peace and answers amidst life’s journeys. As the fifteenth temple built in Utah and the third in Utah County, it continues to enrich the lives of those who Temple  within its sacred walls.
