The announcement for the Star Valley Wyoming Temple came on October 1, 2011, during a General Conference led by Prophet Thomas S. Monson. This announcement was met with anticipation and enthusiasm among members.

The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on April 25, 2015, officiated by Craig C. Christensen. After much anticipation, the public open house occurred from September 23rd through October 8th, 2016, attracting a total of 78,000 attendees who took the opportunity to tour the building.

The formal dedication of the Star Valley Wyoming Temple occurred on October 30, 2016, conducted by Apostle David A. Bednar. In a heartfelt dedicatory prayer, he expressed sentiments of love and devotion, emphasizing the desires for righteousness and eternal family connections.

Architectural Features

Occupying 43.6 acres, the Star Valley Wyoming Temple features a striking design. The exterior finish consists of precast concrete panels, giving the building a modern and polished look. A standout feature is the single attached end spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which was placed on the Temple on April 25, 2016.

Within its 18,609 square feet of space, the Star Valley Wyoming Temple includes:

The Temple reaches a height of 123 feet and sits at an elevation of 6,218 feet, providing a picturesque backdrop against the mountainous terrain. The stained glass in the foyer features a depiction of Jesus Christ, originally from a Presbyterian Church in New York City, adding an artistic touch to its design.
