This year, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has transformed the square into a wonderland with “Christ Centered displays and a variety of free activities that the whole family can enjoy.
While some areas around the Salt Lake Temple are still under renovation, there’s still plenty to see and do! The church is gearing up for an exciting open house celebration in April 2027 welcome back visitors to the temple. In the meantime, soak in the vibrant holiday atmosphere in the open areas of Temple Square, alive with dazzling lights daily from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 430 p.m. to 10 p.m., shining bright until January 1.
But the festivities don’t stop at Temple Square! Zero in on Salt Lake City’s festive spirit with other delightful attractions Check out the magnificent Christmas tree at City Creek Center, explore the whimsical candy windows at Macy’s, enjoy the seasonal display “The Turning Season at the Eccles Theater lobby, or lace up your skates at the ice rink and experience the enchanting “Glow installation at Gallivan Center.
Don’t miss out on the array of holiday events surrounding Temple Square! Dine with a view at The Roof restaurant atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which is now accepting holiday reservations after its grand reopening on November 14.
The Church History Museum is a treasure trove of festive cheer, featuring musical performances by local groups, a charming display of Victorian Christmas decor, and the beloved Giving Machines that spread joy to those in need. Swing by from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, or visit a bit later from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Explore the awe inspiring Christmasthemed artwork at the Conference Center, viewable during regular hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. And for a truly unforgettable experience, join us for “Music and the Spoken Word every Sunday at 930 a.m. on the Conference Center stage. Don’t miss the special performance featuring Block and Arcelus on December 14admission is free!
If you’re in the mood for a heartfelt theatrical experience, catch the “Savior of the World performance, running daily (except Sundays and Mondays) through December 27 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. While tickets have been distributed, you can still join the standby line in the Conference Center Plaza lobby!
And the holiday spirit continues to glow with concerts and nighttime performances featuring talented choirs and musicians all around Temple Square, from school and community choirs to string and bell groups, running through December 23.
