Nestled in the heart of Cody, Wyoming, at 1719 Wyoming Avenue, the Cody Wyoming Temple is set to become a cherished space for reflection and spiritual connection. Announced on October 3, 2021, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, this anticipated addition has been met with excitement and eagerness from many in the area.
The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on September 27, 2024, officiated by Elder Steven R. Bangerter. His heartfelt words during the ceremony emphasized the tranquility and joy this Temple could bring to the lives of individuals and families in Cody, stating, “We ask that they may feel a spirit of peace wash over them, granting them comfort and assurance that the presence of this Temple will bring added joy, prosperity, beauty and unity to their lives.”
Spanning across 4.69 acres, the Cody Wyoming Temple will feature a distinctive design that includes a single attached central tower. Notably absent is a gold-leafed angel Moroni statue, emphasizing a unique architectural choice for this location. The building will cover 8,050 square feet and reach a height of 101 feet, making it a prominent feature in the skyline, set against an elevation of 5,134 feet.
Inside, the Temple will offer essential rooms for specific purposes, including an instruction room, a sealing room, and a baptistry. Each area is designed to foster a serene atmosphere where individuals can engage in personal spiritual practices.
The Temple’s rendering, released to the public on March 27, 2023, showcased an elegant multi-steeple design capped with a pyramidal spire, leaving many eager to see how it will fit into the picturesque Cody landscape.
