A Brief History
The journey began on April 2, 2011, when the Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced plans for this location. The dreams of many came to fruition on August 24, 2013, with the groundbreaking and site dedication performed by Ronald A. Rasband. After years of anticipation, the public open house took place from August 19 through September 10, 2016. A remarkable 105,000 individuals attended to explore and appreciate the beauty of this monumental place.
On October 16, 2016, the Fort Collins Colorado Temple was dedicated by Apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf, marking a significant occasion in its history.
Architectural Features
Occupying an impressive 15.69 acres, the Fort Collins Colorado Temple features elegant beige concrete panels that give it a distinct and timeless appearance. The design includes a central tower, which is accentuated by a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue that was installed on August 26, 2015. With a total area of 42,000 square feet and a height of 112 feet, the Temple stands tall against the picturesque backdrop of the Colorado landscape, which itself rests at an elevation of 4,921 feet.
Inside, the Temple is thoughtfully designed with two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry, catering to various needs of attendees. A chapel is conveniently located across the residential street, making the entire experience accessible and cohesive.
