LDS Temple News Presents the Fort Worth Texas Temple House of the Lord Holiness to the Lord
The Fort Worth Texas Temple is officially on its way! The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Saturday, October 28, 2023, presided over by Elder Jose L. Alonso, a General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the North America Southwest Area Presidency. During the event, Elder Alonso offered a dedicatory prayer in which he expressed gratitude for Jesus Christ’s mission and emphasized the hope and support found through His teachings.
The temple will feature a beautiful architectural design that includes a central spire, contributing to its graceful appearance. Insights into the temple’s design were first shared with the public on October 31, 2022, when the official exterior rendering was unveiled. The temple will be located on approximately 9.37 acres, situated just north of SW Hulen Street and Greenridge Drive in Burleson. It is planned to be a single-story structure, approximately 30,000 square feet, designed to accommodate worshippers and visitors.
The announcement for the construction of this temple was made by President Russell M. Nelson during the October 2021 General Conference. Once completed, the Fort Worth Texas Temple will mark the sixth temple in Texas, which is home to a thriving community of over 360,000 Latter-day Saints.
Located northwest of Dallas in north-central Texas, this temple will be an important addition to the region, situated at an elevation of 768 feet, enhancing the landscape of the area. For those interested in comparisons, the nearby Fort Collins Colorado Temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, setting a benchmark for the features that may be included in the new Fort Worth Texas Temple.
As construction progresses, the community is looking forward to the opening of this new house of worship, which aims to serve as a spiritual haven for many in the Fort Worth area and beyond.
