Get ready to be amazed by the beautiful Grand Junction Colorado Temple—a true gem that proudly stands on 7.93 acres! Rising to an impressive 118 feet, this Temple features a striking single spire and sits at an elevation of 4,962 feet, making it a must-see.
The excitement started on April 4, 2021, when Prophet Russell M. Nelson shared the plans for this incredible Temple during the 191st Annual General Conference. For the Latter-day Saints community in Colorado, which has been around since 1896, this announcement brought joy and anticipation. With over 150,000 members and around 310 congregations, the buzz has been electric as everyone looks forward to welcoming this new spiritual haven.
Tucked away on a gorgeous 6.94-acre site at the busy intersection of Horizon Drive and North 12th Street—just a hop away from Interstate 70—the Temple’s location is as lovely as the building itself. The exterior rendering, unveiled on September 17, 2021, had everyone talking and eager to see this remarkable project come to life.
On a sunny Saturday, April 16, 2022, Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong of the Quorum of the Seventy led the groundbreaking ceremony—what an inspiring way to kick off this new adventure! With a spacious 29,630 square feet planned, this Temple is designed to be a beautiful place of Temple and community spirit. Elder Wong’s dedicatory prayer, offered the day before Easter Sunday, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and dedicated the ground for future generations to enjoy.
Mark your calendars for an exciting media day on September 8, 2025! After that, there will be two special days for exclusive tours for invited guests, followed by public tours from September 11 to September 27. The grand dedication, happening on October 19, 2025, will be led by President Jeffrey R. Holland, uniting everyone in a joyful celebration of faith.
