Nestled at 250 S Main St, Brigham City, Utah, the Brigham City Utah Temple holds the distinction of being the 139th dedicated Temple in operation. The journey of the Brigham City Utah Temple began on October 3, 2009, when Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced its construction during the 179th Semiannual General Conference. Following this announcement, a significant milestone was reached on July 31, 2010, when Apostle Boyd K. Packer performed the groundbreaking and site dedication ceremony.
After years of anticipation, a public open house allowed many to explore the Temple from August 15 to September 15, 2012. The culmination of this journey came on September 23, 2012, when Apostle Boyd K. Packer returned to dedicate the Temple, marking it as a cherished addition to the area.
The design of the Brigham City Utah Temple features an eye-catching exterior of precast concrete limestone, complemented by two end spires topped with a stunning gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. Its installation was an event to remember, taking only 50 minutes and witnessed by 5,000 onlookers.
Stepping inside, the Temple encompasses 36,000 square feet with thoughtfully designed spaces. It includes two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all aimed at enhancing the experience of those who enter.
One notable aspect of the Temple is its underground parking garage, which permits access via the west side of the building. Parking facilities consist of 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls, ensuring ample space for all.
Built at an elevation of 4,454 feet and reaching a height of 165 feet, the Brigham City Utah Temple stands as the fourteenth Temple constructed in Utah and the first in Box Elder County. Its location, directly across from the historic Box Elder Tabernacle, adds to its significance in the area.
Interestingly, the Temple occupies grounds where an old school once stood before its demolition, intertwining a sense of history with a new chapter for the community.
