Discovering the Fort Collins Colorado Temple
Nestled in the scenic landscape of Fort Collins, Colorado, the Fort Collins Colorado Temple serves as the 153rd Operating Temple. Located at 2180 Majestic Dr, this impressive site has made a significant impact on local and regional culture since its inception.
The journey towards the realization of this remarkable building began with its announcement on April 2, 2011, by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. A defining moment came on August 24, 2013, when the groundbreaking and site dedication were held, led by Ronald A. Rasband. This event marked the beginning of a long-awaited effort that would culminate in a beautiful space for spiritual reflection.
After years of anticipation, the public open house took place from August 19 to September 10, 2016. During this time, an impressive total of 105,000 individuals toured the site, gaining a firsthand experience of its beauty and purpose. Following the open house, the Fort Collins Colorado Temple was officially dedicated on October 16, 2016, by Apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
Occupying 15.69 acres, the Temple showcases elegant beige concrete panels that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Its architectural design features a single attached central tower crowned by a stunning gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue, which was installed on August 26, 2015. The Temple itself spans 42,000 square feet and stands majestically at a height of 112 feet, elevated at 4,921 feet above sea level.
Inside the Fort Collins Colorado Temple, there are two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to facilitate various religious practices. Across the residential street, a chapel complements the Temple, providing a space for congregational activities.
