The Lindon Utah Temple is a significant addition to the landscape of Lindon, Utah. Situated at 850 E Center Street, this majestic building represents not only a spiritual heart but also a beautiful architectural achievement.
Timeline of the Lindon Utah Temple
The announcement of the Lindon Utah Temple was made on October 4, 2020, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on April 23, 2022, under the direction of Elder Kevin W. Pearson. He expressed a heartfelt wish for the construction of the Temple to bless the local area with peace, love, and unity.
The Temple is set to be dedicated on May 3, 2026, bringing it closer to serving the residents of Lindon and the surrounding area.
Key Features of the Temple
The Lindon Utah Temple occupies an impressive 11.87 acres, with a total floor area of 87,005 square feet. Built at an elevation of 4,817 feet, its exterior showcases beautiful granite. The architectural design features two attached end spires, but notably does not include a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
Interior Amenities
Inside the Lindon Utah Temple, there are four instruction rooms, each with a capacity of 50 people. Additionally, the Temple houses four sealing rooms and two baptistries, designed to meet the spiritual needs of those who come to partake of its offerings.
Unique Design Elements
The decor throughout the Temple features stained glass representing the area’s agrarian roots, including the distinct Linden Tree Flower. Furthermore, at the northeast corner, there’s a designated area for bridal parties to take photographs with the Temple in the background, enhancing the experience for couples celebrating significant life events.
Surrounding Features
Surrounding the Temple, a circular parking lot will be enclosed by black ornamental fencing, further enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area.
The Lindon Utah Temple is Utah’s 25th dedicated Temple and marks the seventh Temple built in Utah County. As a new spiritual destination, it will serve not just Lindon, a small city with a population of 11,000, but also the nearby towns of Pleasant Grove and Orem.
Leadership of the Temple
The first President and Matron of the Lindon Utah Temple are Lynn McKinlay Brätt and Elizabeth Ann Prestwich Brätt, who will lead operations as the Temple opens its doors.
