Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a heartwarming and beautiful place that’s become a cherished part of the Yukon community! As the 95th temple dedicated in operation, its story began with an exciting announcement on March 14, 1999. Just a few months later, on July 3, 1999, Elder Rex D. Pinegar led the groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of something special.
The excitement continued to build as the temple opened its doors for the first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000. It was a wonderful opportunity for people to explore this sacred space before its official dedication on July 30, 2000, led by Apostle James E. Faust.
The temple is stunning from the outside, with its lovely beige limestone that gleams in the Oklahoma sun and a striking spire topped with a gold-leafed statue of Angel Moroni. Sitting on an acre of lush grounds with a peaceful fountain, it offers a tranquil escape for visitors. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous finishes, including Italian marble, and various rooms designed for special moments—two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.
Not only does the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple serve local community members, but it also reaches out to friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri, fostering a warm and supportive network of faith. After undergoing extensive renovations from October 15, 2017, to May 19, 2019, the temple proudly opened its doors once again, celebrating with a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, and a special rededication ceremony led by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.
At a height of 83 feet and 9 inches and sitting at 1,202 feet above sea level, this beautiful temple is not just a place of worship—it’s a symbol of hope and connection. Being the first temple built in Oklahoma, it has a rich history and continues to be a cozy haven for anyone seeking peace and inspiration. Come and experience the warmth of the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, where every visitor is welcomed with open arms!
