The Orem Utah Temple is a wonderful addition to the community, standing proudly as the 188th dedicated temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Located at 1451 S 1100 W in Orem, this temple is a beautiful place for reflection and spirituality.
The journey to building this temple began with excitement on October 5, 2019, when it was announced, and it truly became a reality during the groundbreaking ceremony on September 5, 2020, led by Elder Craig C. Christensen. Despite the pandemic, it was a heartfelt occasion, with members of the Williamson family—who sold the land—joining the ceremony to share in this special moment.
For those eager to explore, the temple opened its doors to the public from October 27 to December 16, 2023! It’s set on a lovely 15.39-acre site, with an exterior showcasing stunning pedras salgadas granite from Portugal and welcoming bronze-colored doors—making the approach to the temple quite memorable.
One of the highlights is its charming architecture, featuring a graceful, slender spire that you can’t miss! Inside, the temple provides a warm and inviting atmosphere with 71,998 square feet of sacred space. It includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry—each designed with care to create meaningful experiences for visitors.
The windows are particularly special, as they are adorned with lovely taupe-hued art glass that depicts cherry blossoms and the scenic wetlands around Utah Lake, beautifully connecting the temple to its natural surroundings. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous Crema Marfil marble flooring from Turkey that boasts intricate patterns of cream, red, green, and brown—a true visual treat!
The landscaping around the temple is just as delightful, filled with Norwegian sunset maples, snow queen hydrangeas, and playful whirling butterflies that bring the whole area to life.
Elder Christensen described this temple as “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world,” and it really does feel like a welcoming haven for anyone seeking peace and connection. With an ever-growing community that once had 26 stakes, the Orem Utah Temple has quickly become a place of solace and joy.
In short, the Orem Utah Temple is not just a stunning building; it’s a community treasure that invites everyone to come and experience its beauty and warmth!
